We support the development of foundational skills in communication, social interaction, gross motor, fine motor, and overall development through child development therapy. Our intervention is grounded in evidence-informed, developmentally appropriate frameworks, and is tailored to each child’s unique profile. We conduct thorough developmental assessments to ensure therapy is individualized, goal-driven, and continuously adjusted based on data and the child’s ongoing response to intervention, including speech therapy.
If you’ve been noticing differences in how your child communicates, plays, or connects, it’s natural to feel unsure—and even overwhelmed. Many parents ask themselves questions like:
“Should my child be saying more words by now?”
“Why do play or social moments seem harder?”
“Am I doing enough to support my child?”
These thoughts are common, and they matter. Trusting your instincts and seeking guidance early can make a meaningful difference.
Supporting Families Through the NLACRC Early Start Program
Early intervention can feel complex—but you don’t have to figure it out on your own. The North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) oversees Early Start services for children ages 0–3, including developmental assessments to determine eligibility. NLACRC manages eligibility determination, evaluations, and IFSP development. We are a proud vendor of the North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC).
Once services begin, our team works collaboratively with families and Service Coordinators, shares progress updates, and supports families through IFSP reviews and the transition planning process as children approach age three.

What Is Child Development Therapy at Verbal Tree?
Child Development Therapy at Verbal Tree is a relationship-based, play-centered service designed for infants and toddlers who benefit from extra developmental support. Services focus on helping children build early foundations across communication, social-emotional development, play, thinking skills, motor readiness, and daily living abilities—within the context of real-life routines. Rather than working on isolated skills, we take a whole-child approach. Each child’s learning is shaped by their environment, sensory needs, family culture, and strengths. Our Child Development Therapists work closely with caregivers to support growth through meaningful interactions that fit naturally into everyday life. Sessions are active, engaging, and collaborative. Families receive practical strategies that can be used beyond sessions—at home, in the community, and during daily routines—so progress continues throughout the week.
Child Development Therapy is appropriate for children who may show developmental delays, challenges with regulation or social engagement, or who simply need support strengthening early developmental building blocks. Our goal is to support children in connecting, communicating, and exploring—while equipping families with tools they can confidently use every day.
What Is Speech Therapy at Verbal Tree?
Speech Therapy at Verbal Tree supports infants and toddlers (0-3 years of age) in developing meaningful communication skills—spoken, gestural, and alternative forms of communication—within the context of everyday routines. Rather than drilling isolated words, therapy is functional, interactive, and child-led. Communication is embedded into play, daily routines, and real-life interactions so children learn how to communicate with purpose and confidence.
Our Approach: Intentional, Connected, and Family-Centered
At Verbal Tree, the philosophy is straightforward: caregivers are central to a child’s development. Our role is to support, coach, and collaborate with families—so growth happens naturally within everyday moments. Although sessions may look like play, each interaction is purposeful.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
Purposeful Play: Children learn best when they are engaged and interested. Activities are guided by your child’s interests and aligned with their IFSP goals, targeting skills such as communication, problem-solving, social engagement, regulation, and participation in daily routines.
Connection First: Strong relationships support learning. We focus on helping caregivers understand their child’s cues, sensory preferences, and communication style—building trust, engagement, and shared attention.
Family Coaching: Therapy doesn’t stop when the session ends. Caregivers receive hands-on guidance and simple strategies that fit easily into routines like meals, dressing, playtime, or outings—supporting consistent progress throughout the week.
Strength-Based and Sensory-Informed: Each child experiences the world differently. We honor individual strengths and sensory needs, creating learning experiences that feel safe, motivating, and supportive.
What Verbal Tree Helps Manage
We aim to reduce stress for families by supporting communication and coordination throughout services. This includes sharing progress updates, collaborating with other providers, assisting with IFSP preparation, and guiding families through transitions into preschool or school-based services. Our priority is to make early intervention clear, supportive, and manageable—so families can focus on what matters most: their child’s growth.
You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone
Early Start can feel overwhelming at first, but support makes a difference. At Verbal Tree, families are guided step by step, with clear explanations and ongoing collaboration. Together, we support your child’s development—and your family’s journey—every step of the way.
